Sumatran Tiger

The Sumatran tiger is the smallest tiger subspecies, with round face, ears, and sturdy build. Males weigh around 120 kg, females 90 kg, with both displaying rust-orange fur with distinctive black stripes. Limited to Sumatra, Indonesia, they inhabit dense forests and higher altitudes, avoiding human-altered landscapes like palm oil farms. Valued for traditional medicine, they're poached for body parts and cubs for the illegal pet trade. In the wild, Sumatran tigers are endangered, with only around 600 Sumatran tigers that remain in the wild.
